Carpet and Area Rugs

Almost every home we do has carpet in it — mostly steps, bedrooms & lower developments. Soft hand, silky smooth feeling frieze carpet is definitely the big trend with natural grey being the dominate color.

If you want to increase value and longevity of your carpet, you must upgrade the underlay throughout (not just on the stairs), because you will feel and see the difference in the transition and high traffic areas. An underlay upgrade is the best value upgrade you can do in any home.

Fibre Types:

  • Nylon: Strong, durable, and resilient. Soil and stain treatments are added. Most used carpet fibre.
  • Polyester: Soft to the touch and fade and stain resistant, however, does not offer the strength or resilience of nylon.
  • Olefin (polypropelene): Also fade and stain resistant with low resilience.
  • Wool: Offers natural beauty and feel, however, not as resilient as man-made fibre and is more costly.

Style Types:

  • Saxony: A dense level cut pile. Yarn tufts are closely packed, resulting in a rich, smooth, luxurious surface. Formal.
  • Textured: Also a level cut pile, but the yarn is twisted for a textured surface. Helps minimize footprints. Semi-formal.
  • Frieze: Highly twisted tufts that curl at the surface. Suits high traffic areas. Informal.
  • Berber: Available in level loop (tufted loops of the same height) or multi-level loop (tufted loops of two or three levels). Informal.
  • Cut and Loop: A combination of Saxony (cut pile) and Berber (loop). A wide variety of patterns and designs are available. Can be formal or informal depending on the pattern.

Ceramic & Natural Stone Tile

Large format smooth porcelain and natural, classic-look tile in creams, whites, and greys are currently in high demand for both floor and wall areas. Wood look tile has also become very popular, with extremely impressive visual, like the product put in the 2015 Stampede Dream Home. Classic look mosaics with hexagon or lantern shapes are coming back in demand.

If you plan to install natural stone in wet areas, be prepared to re-seal on an annual basis. Otherwise, ceramic and natural stone is a great alternative to hardwood flooring and is very to maintain.

Tile can be installed throughout entire main floors and/or lower developments with in-floor heat, which is not just for foyers and bathrooms.

We showcase a wide range of colours, patterns, and sizes from leading manufacturers and distributors such as:

Cork is an excellent alternative to hardwood flooring, in a similar price range to hardwood flooring. The nice thing about cork is that we can re-harvest every 9 years without harming the tree. Other benefits are:

  • Cork is a natural sound absorber because its cells work as an acoustic insulator and can easily reduce noise within a room, and act as a noise buffer between the floor and the rooms underneath.
  • Cork is more comfortable and easier on the body than most floors.  Cork is warmer than wood and by far better than vinyl or ceramics when it comes to those cold, wintery mornings.
  • Cork’s elasticity and compressibility allows it to adapt to pressure. When compressed, it doesn’t lose flexibility, recovering its initial shape and volume without suffering damages.

Hardwood flooring is a great choice for certain lifestyles and expectations. It’s very popular and promoted well for resale. Before considering it for your home, however, please take a moment to read our warranty and installation policies.

If you’re looking for something new and innovative in hardwood, Lauzon makes a product they can add to the finish of their hardwood called Pure Genius. Pure Genius is a light-activated, air-purifying agent made of titanium dioxide, which is integrated into Lauzon’s Titanium floor and breaks down toxic contaminants, like formaldehyde, on contact and cleans the air inside your home.

We carry a wide range of wood flooring in several different species from these manufacturers:

Laminate is more dent and scratch resistant than hardwood. It is wear, stain, and fade resistant and is easy to maintain. With the variety of designs available, you’re sure to find a look to suit your décor. It is also great for budget minded consumers, but doesn’t receive the same promotion for resale as hardwood flooring does.

NOTE: Make sure to research product origin and request documents to confirm the laminate product is formaldehyde free. Stories on Global 16×9 and 60 minutes brought this serious issue to light over the last year.
